It's all systems go for the second round of the Sasol SA Rally Championship from today to Saturday.

This was said by the rally's communication manager, Peter Burroughes, yesterday.

It will start with the traditional Thursday Mardi Gras in Sabie and end in Nelspruit on Saturday.

The 16th yearly event is expected to attract some of the best crowds in non-circuit motor racing.

Looking for a second successive win after their dominating performance in the opening round in the Western Cape in March will be 2004 champions Serge Damseaux and Pierre Arries (Castrol Toyota RunX).

Club director of the course Willie du Plessis, who has been involved with each Sasol Rally, said: "We will be using the tried and tested format that we have successfully employed for the past decade or so.

"Just to spice things up a bit, we have rediscovered some interesting roads in the Hazyview area."
