Ladies light up east

Ladies in Jazz is heading to the Oudemeester East Comes Alive jazz series on May 4.

The show will be held in Boksburg on the East Rand, Gauteng.

Joe Nina who has managed to transcend the kwaito genre to become a respected Afro-pop musician will spice up the show.

This will be no ordinary concert because Nina stands tall among musicians, whereas Ladies in Jazz have paid their dues in this art form.

Based in Pretoria, Ladies in Jazz is a female outfit with substance.

The jazz band has a solid following in contemporary jazz circles in the country.

These performances come in the wake of trombonist Jonas Gwangwa, who was not deterred by the sound system, which failed at the end of his show about two weeks ago.

Oudemeester East Comes Alive is bringing a new sound to beef up what has been six years of good fun at Boksburg's Birchwood Executive Hotel.

While Ladies in Jazz is gracing the stages of the series for the first time, Nina is a familiar act.

He will be performing for the third time at this venue.
