A 23-year-old Mozambican-born "traditional healer" used a strange therapy when a female patient consulted him about a womb ailment.
He allegedly raped her - and charged her R1700 for his "services".
The "healer" made a brief appearance in the Manguzi magistrates' court near Kosi Bay in northern Zululand this week on a rape charge.
It is alleged the man, who introduced himself as a doctor to his patients, told the woman to lie down so he could treat her womb.
Inspector Zwelonke Mathenjwa said that before the woman, who is in her 40s, lay down and the man "told her that his ancestors had instructed him to insert a pipe in her genitals to draw dirt from her womb.
"When the woman lay down, the healer allegedly raped her," he said.
The suspect is among a group of foreigners who have set up a "surgery" in a rented cottage.
The healers have allegedly boasted about helping people win the Lotto and enlarging male sex organs.
Mathenjwa warned other people not to fall prey to such con artists.
He said the police were still investigating and had called on other women who might have been victims of the healer to come forward.
The case was remanded to next week.
