Ugandan cops in protest chaos

KAMPALA - Ugandan police used water cannons and fired live ammunition in to the air yesterday to disperse opposition supporters. The people were protesting the arrest of two politicians accused of inciting violence last week.

A witness said scores of police officers turned on several hundred demonstrators gathered to back two opposition members of parliament who were arrested on Monday over a protest last week that targeted Asians and in which three people died. - Reuters
