Desai up for another prize

LONDON - Indian novelist Kiran Desai, who won the prestigious Booker Prize last year for The Inheritance of Loss , is in the running for another major literary award .

LONDON - Indian novelist Kiran Desai, who won the prestigious Booker Prize last year for The Inheritance of Loss , is in the running for another major literary award .

The UK's yearly book award for fiction written by women, the Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction, announced its shortlist yesterday and Desai is on it, as are writers from India, the UK, Nigeria, China and the US.

Desai became the youngest woman to win the Booker for her story about a judge about to retire to the Himalayas - until the arrival of his orphaned granddaughter. - Reuters
