Superintendent Eugene Opperman of the East Rand police said: "The couple had been at a filling station when an argument broke out. The woman was shot and she died on the scene."
After shooting the woman, the man "ran towards Pamona Road where he shot himself and was then hit by a car", Opperman said.
ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said the man, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to hospital in a critical condition. - Sapa
