A police officer in Mpumalanga is facing fraud and corruption charges for allegedly selling recruitment forms to aspiring policemen for R2000 each.
The case was opened at the Bushbuckridge police station on Friday but the officer, an inspector, has not yet been arrested.
Police spokesman Captain Leonard Hlathi confirmed that a case had been opened against the officer, but could give no further details.
"I can only confirm that we are investigating the allegations made against the officer and cannot give more details pending the investigation," Hlathi said yesterday.
The inspector is reported to have pocketed more than R18000 from selling the forms to aspiring police- men and making false promises that they would be selected for training.
