International model Tinyiko Mathusa is embroiled in a bitter fight with TV presenter and radioman, Pepsi Pokane and his partner, leading fashion designer Machero, over a TV advert.
The fight is about Mathusa's picture which appears in an advertisement for Xitsonga and Tshivenda lifestyle programme Zwahashu.
An enraged Mathusa claims that Pokane and his partner used her photograph, taken at a fashion shoot of Machero's clothing line, without her permission.
She says she was paid R400 for the shoot, but nothing for the TV ad.
"It is so painful to see myself advertising Zwahashu almost every second day for more than a year now while my bank balance remains the same," Mathusa bewails.
Zwahashu ison SABC2 on Thursdays at 6.30pm.
"I feel I have been used, and my image is being exploited to fatten other people's bank balances while I am starving," the model said yesterday.
Mathusa says discussions between her and Pokane deadlocked when he first offered her R1300, upping it up to R2500, and finally settling on R4000. The model wants R10000.
"Pokane said R10000 was too much," she said.
She has apparently been hounding Pokane, Machero and Zwahashu producer Tshepo Desando since March last year for a financial settlement without success.
"I have held a series of meetings with Pepsi and Tshepo since November.
"These meetings have been marked by broken promises, late arrivals and no-shows on the part of Pepsi and Tshepo.
"Machero has been avoiding me ever since the fallout.
"This is in sharp contrast to her frequent calls when everything was still working well for us," she says.
Pokane yesterday refused to comment and threatened to sue if Sowetan published the story.
