The women's chamber of the National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Nafcoc) will stage the inaugural Presidential Golf Challenge at Crown Mines Golf Course in Johannesburg on April 17.
Tee-off is at 8am.
Mamakhooa Nhlapo-Maklein, the president of Nafcoc's women's chamber, said the tournament would be staged in honour of the federation's president, Buhle Mthethwa.
"She is the first woman president of Nafcoc and we decided to do something to honour her," said Nhlapo-Maklein yesterday.
"As Nafcoc's women's chamber, we feel honoured to be led by a person of Mthethwa's calibre and who has the ability to empower women entrepreneurs. We will also give her a patron's award."
Kentse Makgae, the event's coordinator, said they were expecting 120 golfers from various golf clubs and companies to take part in the tournament.
"We urge golfers to come forward and make this tournament a great success," Makgae said.
Mthethwa said she was humbled by the gesture of the women's chamber.
"It's a great feeling that I will be honoured and I'm looking forward to the tournament," Mthethwa said.
Mthethwa took over the reins of Nafcoc from Patrice Motsepe in November last year.
