Climbing on top of moving passenger trains and displaying some kind of bravado has led to teenagers being electrocuted by up to 300 volts.

This madness has to be stopped.

Yesterday's announcement by Metrorail that it had set aside R500000 for a project aimed at eliminating train surfing should be lauded.

Through this campaign, the company has been able to reduce the daredevil shenanigans so far by 5percent on suburban trains.

Parents need to come to the party by helping to persuade youngsters to devote time to positive activities.
