Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, left, has been discharged from hospital, the department of health said yesterday.

Sibani Mngadi, departmental spokesman, said Tshabalala-Msimang was recovering steadily after she underwent a successful elective liver transplant in March.

"The minister has returned to her home in Pretoria on an ambulatory discharge from the Johannesburg Hospital. She will regularly visit the hospital for appropriate care, including care of her wound," said Mngadi.

The attending doctor, Jeff Wing, will decide when Tshabalala-Msimang will no longer require post-operative ambulatory care. Wing said the minister had been declared a pass-out patient since the Easter holidays.
