The creation of a competitor to Telkom took a step forward yesterday when Transnet accepted Neotel's R230million offer for its telecoms arm, Transtel. One of the delays in government's plan to create a second national telecoms company was wrangling between Eskom and Transnet over the value of their networks. Transtel has a R400million yearly revenue and employs 500 people. The deal is still subject to negotiations and the signing of a sale and purchase agreement and certain mandatory approvals - Staff Reporter
