Relatives of murdered crime intelligence officer Captain Carrim Alli were yesterday visibly relieved at the conviction of a police sergeant and his business partner.

However, the family said they believed the whole truth had not yet been revealed.

Judge Bosielo convicted Sergeant Isa Mohammed, who was formerly known as Christo Duvenhage, and Tienie de Bruin on charges of murder, malicious damage to property and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Alli's brother, Ismail, said he believed the two accused men had been used as "foot soldiers".

Spectators at the trial spontaneously applauded when the two accused were led to the court cells after the judge had revoked their bail. - Sapa
