While many choose university or college, a growing trend worldwide is to study from home through distance learning.

Leading distance-learning institutions like Intec College are increasingly popular because they are affordable and flexible and allow students the freedom to work or pursue hobbies at the same time.

Jan Badenhorst, colleges manager of Intec says, "A major advantage of distance learning is that besides choosing from a wide variety of courses, students have more control over their studies than they would at a traditional tertiary institution.

"And with no closing dates for enrolment, students can start at any time of the year. They can take up to two years to complete each course, study at their own pace and still work, travel, intern or take a gap year," Badenhorst says.

He says that without yearly fees, students save by paying only for enrolled courses.

"The price of the course includes all study materials, including postage. And, despite dictating their own study timetable, students are not alone. They have access to free career assessments by a qualified career counsellor before enrolment and accessible career guidance from expert tutors throughout their studies."

For those looking for a more personal and flexible approach, distance learning is the ideal alternative because students can register by telephone, SMS, fax, email or through an appointment with a representative at any branch nationwide.
