Black businesspeople in Limpopo have formed their own structure in order to also benefit from the spin-offs of the 2010 World Cup.

The Limpopo Black Business Forum 2010 (LBBF2010) is a new provincial body with its members representing various sectors in the business fraternity.

Its members are from provincial structures dealing with sections like housing, security, transport, marketing, construction, lawyers and tourism.

Kedi Mabotja, chairman of the forum, explains the reason behind the formation of the body: "We want to make sure the businesspeople in Limpopo also benefit.

"There is a tendency that the people of Limpopo lose out when we host some of the major national or international events.

"In mining, it is not Limpopo businesspeople who are at the forefront. We formed LBBF2010 to jealously guard against that.

"Our people must also get a slice of the cake. The aim for the new body is to access projects that are available for the 2010 World Cup.

"Secondly, we want to build the capacity of black businesspeople. The support we've been getting since forming the body has been tremendous," added Mabotja.

The other executive members are Mantombi Maphanzela (deputy chairman) and January Nale (general secretary).

Additional members are Tom Boya, Raleigh Maisela and Herman Mangwale.
