World-renowned Limpopo traditional healer Sylvester Hlati just does not stop extending his generous hand to the needy.
The well-travelled healer has come to the aid of needy children at two schools in Mukhomi, in Malamulele, Limpopo.
At a function held at Hasani Primary School recently, Hlati adopted 15 students from the school and the neighbouring Humula High School to help them with their educational and other needs.
The generous healer bought uniforms for each of the students and paid R800 for each of them towards educational trips.
"I grew up under harsh conditions and I do not want these students to experience the type of poverty I went through," he said.
Hlati said because as a child his parents could not afford to send him to school, he had decided to start education projects for other children in similar circumstances.
"If the students I am sponsoring do well at school, I see no reason why I cannot help them through their tertiary education," he said.
Hlati runs practices in Musina, Malamulele, Thohoyandou, Polokwane, Botlokwa, Makhado, Matoks, Johannesburg and Rustenburg.
He came to public notice in 1996 after helping Sylvia Mathebula, a young girl from Jilongo village who was rumoured to have been turned into a zombie.
Some of his traditional medicines were recently sent to the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands to be tested.
Hlati also recently went to his home area in Mozambique where he donated R45000 to buy surgical gloves for Maputo Central Hospital.
Hlati recently hosted an HIV-Aids awareness campaign at his headquarters in Malamulele which was attended by heads of different government departments.
Two weeks ago, Hlati paid the cost of burial for two old women from Green Village who were raped and murdered last year.
The two accused, Thomas Mathonsi and Livingstone Maluleke, were sentenced to two life-terms each by the Polokwane regional court two weeks ago.
