A 14-year-old girl allegedly stabbed a 17- year-old boy to death in Setlagole village near Mafikeng in North West at the weekend.
The incident happened in the evening while the girl's parents were out. Two boys, aged 17 and 16, had visited the girl's home to watch television.
Spokesman for the Molopo police, Captain Sabata Mokgoabone said an argument apparently broke out between the 16-year-old and the girl.
He said when the 17-year-old tried to intervene the girl went to fetch a knife from the kitchen and allegedly stabbed him in the neck. He died on the scene.
The girl has not been arrested, but she is being kept under her parents' custody.
Mokgoabone said she has to meet a social worker before an arrest can be made. She will appear in court after her session with the social worker.
