Three Western Cape provincial titles have been included in the Branco Sports Production's boxing extravaganza that should take Cape Town by storm on April 20.
Fight fans must gear themselves for a possible 64 rounds of fighting, said multi-award winning co-promoters Branco Milenkovic and Jacob Matlala.
Their tournament, which comprises eight fights, will take place at OR Tambo Hall in Khayelitsha.
But the fight that should bring down the curtain is the showdown for the IBF junior lightweight title between holder Malcolm "The Stone" Klassen and Mzonke "The Rose of Khayelitsha" Fana.
It is the main contest. Klassen and Fana have been engaged in a war of words for some time.
The champion promised to retain his crown and send Fana into retirement, while the challenger threatened to end Klassen's reign, which has so far lasted four months.
Klassen won the title from Gairy St Claire on November 4 last year. Klassen, from Gauteng, will need nerves of steel to deal with the anticipated hostile crowd that will be cheering for their idol.
The capacity of that hall, which is a stone's throw away from Fana's house, is estimated at 3000.
Milenkovic and Matlala will charge R50 for their tournament, which they said would seem out of reach to the average fan.
"We intend producing an unforgettable evening of boxing in the Western Cape, and we also anticipate a thriller of a night," they said.
The champion from Toekomsrus on the West Rand is under the tutelage of trainer Manny Fernandez, while Fana's skills are honed by Zola Koti.
