Limpopo Tourism and Parks (LTP) yesterday said it expected more than four million tourists this Easter weekend.

LTP chief executive Bennie Boshielo said: "We expect high traffic volumes. Our message is simple and clear: respect the rules of the road.

"We appeal to drivers to be alert and to take breaks for the overall safety of passengers and other road users. Please do not drive under the influence of alcohol. Obey traffic warnings like speed limits."

Though the focus is mainly on buses and taxis, more people are travelling in their own vehicles. Additional traffic police officers and emergency services will be deployed.

"We urge you to explore the province in all its splendour. One of our differentiating features is our deep-rooted hospitality ," Boshielo said.
