SABC must give us more sports

I would like to refer to Magadani and Mutangwa's letters of March 27 and 29 respectively.

I would like to refer to Magadani and Mutangwa's letters of March 27 and 29 respectively.

Magadani had a good argument - too bad he had to imply that cricket is a white man's sport.

Of the 16 teams competing in the Cricket World Cup more than half are from non-white countries. These include India, which has a population of more than a billion people.

Mutangwa also spoke some truth, but really made the SABC sound too good.

If there is one thing we can say was good in the old South Africa, it was that one could see all the sport on the SABC.

First rugby went. The only rugby you see now is if the Springboks play in South Africa, and that, too, is always a delayed broadcast.

None of our provincial games are broadcast. The same goes for cricket. The only reason we see the cricket now is because it is the World Cup, and Magadani shouldn't get too upset, as this only takes place every four years.

I agree with him about SuperSport. They have the best sport, but unfortunately I can't afford it either. I hope the SABC starts serving viewers and becoming competitive. The SABC must realise it is not the only station out there, and it should start becoming more competitive in what it offers for TV rights. May sports help to unite everybody in our great country.
