Christians and non-Christians will converge on the State Theatre this Easter to enjoy the angelic voices of Joyous Celebrations.

The award-winning gospel group's show and launch of their 11th album starts tomorrow and runs until Easter Monday.

When the group was conceived in 1996, local gospel music was "sexed up" by fusing it with US spiritual music, making it more accessible - especially to young people.

A major objective of the concept was to launch the careers of local singers who have including Ernie Smith, Swazi Dlamini, Margaret Motsage, Vicky Vilakizi, Nokukhanya Dlamini, Brian Makiwane, Siziwe Ngema, Gift Vilakazi, Concord Nkabinde, Maduvha Madima, Sabatha Masoka, Tshepo Mngoma, Thabo and Nonhlanhla Mdluli, Keke, Redeemed, Sechaba and Ntokozo Mbambo among others.

Shows start at 7.30pm on April 5, 6 and 7 and 2pm and 7.30pm on April 8. Ticket prices range from R100 to R150, and are available at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers.
