CAR, DRIVER TESTING HUBS SKID TO HALT

All vehicle and driver testing stations in the Free State will be off-line for a week while a new electronic system is installed, the provincial Transport Department said yester day.

All vehicle and driver testing stations in the Free State will be off-line for a week while a new electronic system is installed, the provincial Transport Department said yester day.

Department spokesman Gunnett Kaaf said the electronic systems in all the testing centres in the province would be off-line from tomorrow to Thursday next week.

Kaaf said the new system, eNatis, would enhance the department's efficiency, and efforts against crime and fraud at testing centres.

All electronically processed services would be temporarily unavailable.

These include the testing for learner's and driver's licences, vehicle testing and the renewal of vehicle-licence discs.

Kaaf said manually processed services such as booking applications of new test dates and the collecting of licence cards would be available as usual. - Sapa
