The South African Commuter Organisation's conference later this month will concentrate on transport problems during the 2010 Soccer World Cup.

Its chairman, Stephen Moleke, said the organisation held a conference every five years.

"This year we are mapping our role for the 2010 Soccer World Cup.

"We will help the government on various commuter issues and, more importantly, the safety of foreign commuters who will be visiting our country during the World Cup," said Moleke.

He said more efforts would also be made to try to make it easier for South African commuters to travel in the country.

The conference will be held from April 13 to 15 at Gallagher Estate in Midrand, Gauteng.

More than 1000 delegates are expected at the conference. Moleke said Transport Minister Jeff Radebe was expected to speak at the conference.
