Vlakfontein residents believe they received divine intervention when the Seventh Day Adventist congregants from Orlando West spent three weeks with them.
The crusade ended on Saturday. The church donated clothes to the residents and also gave them groceries.
They erected a tent where sermons were held every day.
"We had varied sermons and focused on children and families," said Ngaka Tsagae, an elder in the church.
He said the aim of the crusade was moral regeneration and their focus this time was Vlakfontein.
"We have a children's ministry because we want them to grow up knowing the word of God, and we want them to be better people," Tsagae said.
He said they also had community building activities that included a soup kitchen. And they conducted house visits to revive people spiritually.
"The soup kitchen will be a regular feature every Thursday and the tent will also be permanent," said Tsagae.
"We are also going to continue to give the community groceries after realising how great the need is there," he said.
He said about 200 people attended the evening sermons every night and 43 people were baptised during the three weeks they were there.
"Out of the 43 who were baptised, 20 were from Vlakfontein, and that was encouraging," he said.
Tsagae said that the people were happy with the initiative and that more people were taking part in Bible study.
"This means that more people from Vlakfontein are going to be baptised and this brings us great joy," he said.
