Free State soccer is preparing to celebrate the feat of once againhaving two Castle Premiership sides by sunset on Sunday.

Free State Stars, who need only three points from their remaining five matches to be home and dry and join old rivals Bloemfontein Celtic in the multimillion rand division, take on struggling Western Province United in a 3pm kick off at Wynberg Stadium in Cape Town.

This Mvela Golden League (MGL) tie, which pits two sides from the opposite ends of the table,

While Stars will be returning to the top flight after being relegated earlier, United are strong candidates to be relegated to the lower Vodacom Promotional League when the season ends in five fixtures.

Stars have been on top of their game this season and it would be wrong to say they would have failed to win on Sunday if they were pitted against in-form sides such as Pretoria University or Winnerspark.

Mike Mokoena's side have beaten strong and inferior teams in the MGL with a swagger and this is the ability associated with champions, not pretenders.

"We have to win on Sunday and I don't see us delaying our promotion to the elite league," Rantsi Mokoena, Stars' brand manager, said yesterday.

"We are not taking the champagne to Wynberg, though, because we want to celebrate with our supporters when we return to Free State. I urge all the people of Free State to pray for us on Sunday."

George Scalcoyannis, United's director, however, said he was confident they would get a positive result against Stars.

"We might not have been getting positive results, but the boys have improved a lot and I can't rule out our chances of winning at home on Sunday," Scalcoyannis said.

The hosts will pin their hopes on the experience of veteran striker Wilfred Mugeyi to find the net. Jimmy Kauleza and Lesego Rankudu are key for the visitors.
