Angola won their third successive match in Group Six of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with a 6-1 home thrashing of Eritrea, including two goals from striker Flavio, who is now the top scorer in qualifying, with four.

Angola need four points from their last three qualifiers to again qualify for the finals.

Nigeria also kept up their 100 percent record, but the first match for new coach Berti Vogts delivered a far from convincing 1-0 home win over Uganda on Saturday.

Nwankwo Kanu bundled the ball home 17 minutes from time in Abeotuka as Nigeria stretched their lead in Group Three to five points over Lesotho.

The Afcon took centre stage last weekend and African Soccer Television (ASTV) was there to catch the highlights, which will be screened on SABC Sport's Laduma programme on Sunday at 3pm.

There was also a winning start for new South Africa coach Carlos Alberto Parreira, whose side won 3-0 away in Chad on Saturday and then got a further boost from a goalless draw in Brazzaville between their main Group 11 rivals Congo and Zambia.

Other Afcon qualifiers in the highlights are those of Lesotho's Likoena thumping Niger 3-1 at home and hosts Mauritius going down 1-2 to Sudan.

Africa's youngster were also in action at the 2007 Under-17 African Championships where Nigeria scraped to a narrow 1-0 victory over host country Togo in the final.

On the other hand, South Africa's Under-23 national team paid their Ugandan counterparts a visit coming back with a credible 0-0 draw, which was enough to see them progress into the next round with a 2-0 aggregate win.

The Black Stars of Ghana, who had problems with how Brazil beat them at the last World Cup, thought they would make amends this time round in a friendly in England but were denied through a 1-0 loss.
