The official unemployment rate was 25,5percent in September 2006, slightly up from March 2006's 25,6percent, data released by Statistics South Africa showed. The number of employed people climbed to 12,8million from 12,3million a year before. The unemployment rate will still require successful endeavours by the government to get rid of poverty and unemployment. Staff reporter
