Many will share his outrage that many South Africans continue to get infected when so much money is being invested in creating HIV awareness and in providing treatment.
Several years ago, people such as Mazibuko, Musa Njoko, Chriselda Kananda and many others announced that they were living with the Aids virus. The government has spent millions of rands on awareness, and yet, as Mazibuko says, "We are still getting infected when the information and knowledge about HIV and Aids is free and easily accessible."
Understandable as Mazibuko's anger at treating HIV as "an enigma" may be, we cannot give up the fight now, neither should we be discouraged by those who still do not heed the ABC message (abstain, be faithful and condomise). We must instead look at the positive role people have played in saving the many lives of those who listened and acted on the awareness messages.
It looks like we will have to repeat the Aids messages over and over again, much like preachers talk about Jesus in church every Sunday, until the disease is wiped out completely .
