A 32-year-old Mozambican man charged with fraud has been denied bail in the Rustenburg magistrates' court.

A 32-year-old Mozambican man charged with fraud has been denied bail in the Rustenburg magistrates' court.

The state alleged Eduardo Mondlane went to the Teba Bank in Rustenburg to apply for a R10000 loan using a stolen identity document.

He allegedly removed the original picture and attached his own photograph to it.

An alert teller saw that he was nervous and that there was something wrong with the ID.

She asked him to return the following day. Whe he did, police were summoned and he was arrested.

Mondlane told the court he stayed at an address in Freedom Park , but when police went there they found it did not exist. Magistrate Charmaine Barnard denied him bail saying he might not stand trial, as he had no fixed address.

His case was postponed to April 19. - Sapa
