The national executive committee of the embattled National Democratic Convention is going ahead with its conference despite threats by its interim president, Ziba Jiyane to stop it.

Jiyane has threatened to take the matter to court to stop next month's event. It is the second time Jiyane has tried to stop his NEC's organised conference. Last year the executive committee went ahead with its conference after a court ruled in their favour.

Executive committee member Makhosazana Mdlalose said preparations were at an advanced stage.

"Nothing will stop us. If Jiyane takes us to court, there is nothing we can do."

Jiyane said they will not succeed "I am going to court to stop them".
