Also expected to be in the Limpopo capital will be Dennis Mumble, general manager of the LOC.
Sello Moloto, Limpopo premier, will be one of the guests.
It is likely to be given a miss by other soccer leaders, especially those who serve on the South African Football Association national executive committee, because there is a Safa executive committee meeting on the same day.
Simon Mokoatedi, Polokwane municipality communications and public affairs director, said it's all systems for the ceremony.
The 45000 seater state-of-the-art stadium, which will cost R870 million, will be used as one of the venues for the 2010 World Cup finals.
The facility will be built next to the existing Peter Mokaba Stadium to form part of the Polokwane sports precinct.
"We are delighted that work is finally beginning on Friday, it will once more prove our readiness to host the World Cup," said Mokoatedi.
Thabo Makunyane, Polokwane's executive mayor, said the hosting of the World Cup at Peter Mokaba will make it easier for neighbouring countries to attend the games.
"Polokwane is easily accessible from Mozambique, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Malawi, and even countries further north.
"Polokwane, as the economic and logistic hub of Limpopo, is without doubt best placed to host soccer enthusiasts, visitors and shoppers from these countries," he said.
"In anticipation, the local business community has not been sleeping. New restaurants, accommodation, tourism, leisure and recreation have become new areas of investment."
Makunyane added that other developments in the city include the R600 million International Convention Centre and renovations to the Gateway International Airport.
Nakedi Lekota, Safa national executive committee member, said: "It's a big relief that work is finally starting at Peter Mokaba.
"As soccer people, we would like to thank the provincial government and Polokwane municipality for making it happen."
Irvin Khoza, the Local Organising Committee chairman, said: "We are delighted that all the stadiums are well on course."
