Log leaders Pumas face their toughest game when they engage Griquas in a Vodacom Cup assignment in Kimberley on Saturday at 4pm.

The Pumas top the northern section with 16 points from five games, a point ahead of Griquas, who have a game in hand.

Dawie Theron, Griquas' coach, said: "This will be a tough match but we hope to bag the maximum points and move to the top of the table.

"Our preparations have gone well and the boys are looking forward to the game.''

Griquas will be without reliable hooker Hans van Dyk.

Theron said Van Dyk will be on a tour with the Cheetahs who face the Highlanders in the Super 14 campaign in Australia on Saturday.

At the weekend the Pumas beat the Griffons 43-16, while Griquas had a bye.

In another game, the Lions meet bottom of the log Griffons in Welkom. On Friday, the Bulls host the Leopards at Eersterus in Pretoria.

The southern section's fixtures: Friday: Border v Boland Cavaliers (East London).

Saturday: Mighty Elephants v Wildebeest (Port Elizabeth); Western Province v South West Districts (Western Province).
