The Egyptian government said on Tuesday it had won 75,9percent approval for changes to the country's constitution, put to a referendum on Monday that opponents say was fixed.

The Egyptian Organisation for Human Rights said it estimated that only 5percent of registered voters took part in the referendum.

Reuters reports that some polling stations were deserted during the voting and that many others had only a thin trickle of voters. - Reuters
