The ANC in Limpopo raised more than R3million at a fund-raising dinner in Polokwane at the weekend.

Cassel Mathale, ANC secretary in the province, said the money would help in preparing for the party's policy and national conferences scheduled for later this year.

The policy conference takes place at Gallagher Estate in Midrand in June.

Next will be the national conference to be held at the University of Limpopo in December.

Mathale said people had made contributions willingly and were not influenced by any expectations of government tenders or jobs.

"People who are making these contributions are well aware that they should not expect favours in return.

"We appreciate the fact that they see the need to assist the party in its activities here, but we have made it clear to them that no one should expect anything in return," he said.

The tables sold for between R100000 and R200000 on the night.
