A security guard and a customer were shot and injured in two separate armed robberies in East London at the weekend.
Police said the first robbery took place at a bottle store in Queen Street in Cambridge when two men stormed into the store and held people inside at gunpoint at about 4pm on Saturday.
Captain Stephen Marais said the security guard sustained injuries to his head and arm.
The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of money and bottles of liquor after the shooting.
In the other incident, two robbers armed with shotguns, forced their way into Norman's Delicatessen in Curry Street.
The robbers also held people at gunpoint and demanded money.
At least one customer was shot and wounded in the leg.
Marais said the robbers took cash from the till and fled the scene.
Both victims were admitted to an East London Hospital for treatment.
It was not clear whether the two attacks were by the same gang.
Marais said armed robbery and attempted murder dockets had been opened, but that no arrests had yet been made.
Marais refused to reveal the names of the victims, citing their security as the main reason.
He also refused to disclose the amount of cash that had been taken in the robberies.
