Former Nigerian Olympic soccer side coach Godwin Koko Uwua arrives in the country today for talks with Free State Stars.

Uwua is one of the top African coaches earmarked by Ea lla Koto to guide the team, who are on their way back to the Castle Premiership.

"It is true that we have invited Godwin for talks with our management," said Stars' brand manager Rantsi Mokoena yesterday.

"Godwin will watch our First Division League match against Witbank Spurs at Goble Park in Bethlehem on Saturday [tomorrow].

"We will meet Godwin for a formal meeting on Monday morning. We are looking for a coach who will transform Stars into a well-oiled machine, it must be somebody with a credible record.

"The plan is to have the coach that we are looking for being part of the team before we complete our second-round programme. That will also make it easier for him to tell us which departments we should tighten up; he will also join us during the pre-season training."

Mike Mokoena, Stars' chairman, said: "I need somebody like Bibey Mutombo [Orlando Pirates' coach], a person who will not go out to parties with the players."

Stars have been without a permanent head coach after releasing Uwua's compatriot Musa Abdulla due to ill health. Themba Sithole has been acting head coach.
