Sanco rift persists

The rift between South African Civic Association (Sanco) president Mlungisi Hlongwane and the organisation's Eastern Cape secretary, Mike Tofile is not over.

This is contrary to claims by Eastern Cape Sanco members that Hlongwane and Tofile were to make peace.

Sanco members also claimed that Hlongwane had promised to drop intimidation charges against Tofile, which arose from SMSs allegedly sent by Tofile last year containing death threats against his national leader.

The organisation's provincial deputy chairman, Joel Matshoba, charged that Hlongwane did not keep his promise to arrange a meeting with Tofile's camp.

"Maybe someone advised him not to continue with his plans, but we do not mind because he is the one who wanted the matter settled out of court," said Matshoba.
