The Indian government will train young people in KwaZulu-Natal as part of its technical and economic cooperation programme.

This emerged at a meeting between premier Sibusiso Ndebele and the high commissioner of India, Rajiv Kumar Bhatia, in Pietermaritzburg yesterday.

Bhatia said there were already several South Africans being trained in India as part of the programme.

"The training is conducted at top institutions and include technical training, information technology and skills development."

Ndebele said the province would take up the offer as South Africans were struggling in the fields of science and technology.
