The South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) at the Alfred Nzo district municipality in Eastern Cape has called for the suspension of a human resources manager, Silulami Phoswa, after he allegedly punched one of his colleagues.

Police reports indicate Phoswa had an argument with Mveliso Hloba, an IT manager.

He called the manager to his office where he allegedly assaulted him.

Samwu chairman, ZD Mgilane said: "We have already written a letter citing verbal insult and assault of the municipal official to the executive committee and we demand an immediate response" said Mgilane.

Phoswa was unavailable for comment. - Kamva Mokoena
