The medical fraternity has supported an Eastern Cape Health Department decision only to send students to study medicine abroad if they had higher grade marks.

Health MEC Nomsa Jajula sai d no more medical students would be sent abroad without adequate qualifying grades.

There is an agreement with medical faculties in South Africa to accept students from rural areas who do not necessarily have higher grade subjects to give them access to universities.
