Organisers of this year's Rand Show say they have left no room for errors regarding security.

This year will see the South African National Defence Force join the Johannesburg metro police as well as the South African Police Service to beef up security during the event.

The show will be 112 years old this year and will be celebrating with the theme Bring Everyone.

The show starts on March 30 and will run until April 15.

Bryan Brett, the show's manager, bragged about the employment that the two-week show creates every year.

"We are going to have more than 550 local and international exhibitors, and the Department of Arts and Culture will also be bringing SMMEs from nine provinces," he said.

Brett said the show makes billions of rands every year and this year would be no exception.

He said the show would continue to be successful because of its diverse exhibitors.

Brett said: "The test of the success of the Rand Show as a consumer show is the return each year of our exhibitors, some of whom have been exhibiting with us for more than 30 years.

"And, of course, new exhibitors are added every year."

He said the Yfm and Metro FM concerts would not take place this year, however, because there was not enough space.
