Suspended Lesedi FM presenter Thuso Motaung is living on handouts since his bank accounts were frozen after the Asset Forfeiture Unit attached his property last month.
"It's very difficult but you know my family, sisters and brothers are financially coming through for me," he said.
Motaung, his wife Mmamontha and his business partner, Joshua Ramme, were arrested in November for allegedly defrauding the SABC of R32 million.
Motaung and his wife are out on bail of R100000 each and Ramme is out on R50000 bail.
Motaung's lawyer Zola Majavu is expected to file an application today for some money to be released from Motaung's account for day-to-day expences.
His money and other assets are in the hands of the curator.
So far, the curator has only released R2000 to enable the Motaungs to travel to court.
Although the Motaungs are still being paid every month by the SABC, they cannot access the funds because their accounts are frozen.
Motaung' s appeal for the release of funds is subject to him disclosing all his interests and properties.
The forfeiture unit attached 29 vehicles and 15 houses spread across the country during a raid.
Motaung is expected to challenge the seizure when he appears in court on May 9.
The couple and Ramme earlier appeared in the Johannesburg commercial crimes court and the case was postponed to April 12 at the request of the state.
In his last court appearance earlier this month Motaung broke down and wept for what he said was the disrespect shown by the unit to his late mother.
He said the unit had taken pictures of her tombstone. "They can do anything to me, but they must leave my mother alone. I want her to rest in peace."
