A third family member, critically injured when their car overturned during a funeral procession in Pretoria on Sunday, has died in hospital.

Thulani Mthombothi, 23, was the younger brother of Themba Mthombothi, 32, the driver of the BMW 3 series, and his sister, Nontsikelelo, 26, who both died at the scene.

The family were from Block F, Soshanguve. Francis Masango, 40, of Mamelodi East, also died at the scene after the car overturned on the Mabopane Highway at about 10am.

Mthombothi died in the intensive care unit of George Mukhari Hospital in GaRankuwa on Sunday afternoon.

The other critically injured passenger, Bobo Masango, who is in her 20s, is still in hospital receiving treatment for her injuries.

The five mourners were returning from the funeral of Makwe Mabena at the Pretoria West Cemetery.

He was Masango's uncle and the Mthombothi's neighbour in Soshanguve.
