Five people died and three were seriously injured in two freak road accidents in Middelburg in Eastern Cape at the weekend.
A truck overturned about 30km from Middelburg after midnight on Saturday.
Police said N Carollisen, 37, and GC Ebrahiem, 63, both from Cape Town, along with Thandiwe Sokazi, 40, and Agnes Nkonjane, 45, both of Greenfield township in Steynsburg, died. In another accident at Tyityaba, on the N2 between East London and Butterworth, a driver died and three passengers were seriously injured when their car crashed on Saturday. - Mvuyo Mati
