SuperSport United Coach Pitso Mosimane maintains that in knockout competitions, nobody remembers how unsightly the football was - they only remember the result.
Mosimane was summing up an afternoon of dull football from his charges against Golden Arrows in the Absa Cup last 16, but made it clear he had few complaints, as long as they reached their objective.
United booked a quarterfinal berth and joined their neighbours Mamelodi Sundowns, who qualified for the lucrative tournament when they beat struggling Maritzburg United 1-0 in Pietermaritzburg last Wednesday.
"The first half was scrappy, but because it produced the goal I would say I was happy with it. The second half was not that good, and they put us under some pressure but the experience we have in these kinds of competitions helped," said Mosimane.
Daine Klate scored from a free kick in the 18th minute . Arrows played their hearts out and deserved more .
"We conceded a silly goal, which sunk us. These things happen," Arrows coach Manqoba Mngqithi said.
