Moroka Swallows are excited by the fact that they will be off to Germany to take part in the International Volkswagen Challenge from July 16 to 22.

In Germany Swallows will play against Bundesliga side, VFL Wolfsburg, who are also financed by the car manufacturing company.

The Beautiful Birds qualified by virtue of being winners of the company's tournament in South Africa after beating Mvela Golden League side Bay United 3-0.

Sipho Xulu, Swallows' general manager, said they were looking forward to the tournament in Germany.

"It is a golden opportunity to expose our players to international soccer, some of them do not play for the national teams. In addition, it is about time that we also have a pre-season training camp beyond the borders of South Africa.

"Last year we were in Lesotho for a training camp," said Xulu, who is impressed by their performance so far this season.

"It has been a great season for us. As management we would have loved to see the club winning something."

Moroka Swallows' chief executive Leon Prins said: "We will be taking this opportunity to ensure that we are properly prepared for the 2007/08 season."

Bill Stephens of Volkswagen South Africa said: "We wish Swallows the best and are confident that they will bring the trophy home."
