United bid for 7th final
Ambitious SuperSport United are yearning for a record seventh consecutive cup final appearance since the 2004-05 season.
But they have some serious negotiations to do with the rejuvenated Golden Arrows in the Absa Cup last-16 stage at Caledonian Stadium tomorrow.
David "Mazolman" Skhosana, United's communications manager, said they were on a two-pronged mission with the Cup of Dreams this season.
"Firstly, we want to play in our seventh successive cup final. Secondly, the plan is to become the second club to win the Cup of Dreams twice," he said.
"It will be a tough match because we are coming up against Golden Arrows when they are gradually finding their footing.
"But [though] we have players such as Maimane Phiri, Katlego Mphela and Katlego Mashego nursing injuries, the good thing is that we have depth at SuperSport."
United have defeated the KwaZulu-Natal outfit in their last three matches, twice in the league, at home and away, and in the biggest defeat earlier this year when they routed the then highly disorganised Arrows 5-1 at Super Stadium, in Atteridgeville.
