Benoni Premier United will be going for the kill against Bay United at Mehlareng Stadium in Tembisa tomorrow to extend their unbeaten run to four.

The two sides battle it out in the last-16 round of the prestigious Absa Cup in a match scheduled to start at 3.15pm.

What makes this clash interesting is that the two clubs are involved in a last ditch effort to avoid relegation in their respective leagues.

The Rabbits, guided by former Mamelodi United goalie Sonas Malope, are lying 13th in the Castle Premiership with 25 points.

In their last three matches, Benoni won one match, against Black Leopards in the same tournament, and drew three in the league.

The draws were against Silver Stars, SuperSport United and Maritzburg United.

On the other hand, the Henric Vadic-coached lads from Port Elizabeth are 14th on the National First Division log with 23 points from 24 outings.

Dumisani Ndlovu, Benoni's chairman, said: "We are gradually beginning to get our act together, there is hope that we will finish the season in a respectable position."

Senzo Mazingiza, team manager, said they were well prepared for the match, though the Cup of Dreams was not on their list of priorities.

"The focus for us is on the league, we need to move out of the relegation zone so that we do not find ourselves in the Vodacom League," said Mazingiza.

l Ajax Cape Town and their reserve side are bent on making history by simultaneously reaching the quarterfinals of the Cup.

The Urban Warriors, campaigning in the Castle Premiership, welcome Bidvest Wits at Athlone Stadium tomorrow night at 8pm.

It will be a double-header as the other Ajax team playing in the South African Football Association's Vodacom League takes on the in-form Silver Stars at 5pm.
