Sixteen-year-old runaway cousins Nonhlanhla Mvambo and Gladys Matlebyane have been found.

The two girls, who ran away from home in January this year, were found in Cape Town this week.

Nonhlanhla's

mother, Rose Mvambo, said at the time that the pair had run away because they did not want to return to the same school after failing grade 11 last year.

The many nights of anguish and anxiety were a distant memory for Mvambo yesterday, whose only wish was to hold the girls in her arms.

Mvambo told Sowetan yesterday that the girls were in the care of social workers in Cape Town.

"We are making arrangements to bring them back to Johannesburg. We are trying to put together the money," the relieved florist said yesterday

The pair were spotted by "a good Samaritan" who recognised them after seeing their picture in Sowetan last month.

Nonhlanhla's mother earlier pleaded with them to return home.

"Please come back home. We are worried about you. We can work things out," she said earlier.

Mvambo, whose heart had been heavy with sadness, was overcome with joy at the news that the girls would be home.

"A good Samaritan who spotted them on the streets of Cape Town notified the police," said Mvambo.

She said she was relieved to have heard the two girls were unharmed.
