Law student up for robbery

A Walter Sisulu University law student and another suspect were arrested for allegedly robbing a Mqanduli supermarket in the Eastern Cape at the weekend.

A Walter Sisulu University law student and another suspect were arrested for allegedly robbing a Mqanduli supermarket in the Eastern Cape at the weekend.

The fourth-year law student, Vuyolwethu Ndabeni, 29, and Mkhanyisi Siyo, 23, were arrested after a shootout with the police. Another suspect, Andile Siralala, 25, was killed during the shootout.

Police spokesman Inspector Dineo Koena said the suspects stole a vehicle in Mthatha before the robbery.

"They robbed the supermarket the same day after stealing the vehicle," said Koena.

The suspects were arrested after police spotted the robbers driving towards Elliotdale and gave chase.
